Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 13, 2026. Chalein is a beta social map for student activities in Pakistan. During beta, the app stores only the data needed to run accounts, profiles, live activity pins, comments, connections, direct messages, reports, moderation, and optional student verification.
Data We Handle
Account data may include your display name, profile photo, cover photo, university name, interests, Firebase user ID, and sign-in provider. Activity data may include titles, addresses, city, coordinates, photos, attendees, arrivals, comments, and expiry time. Direct messages and connection requests are stored so your inbox works.
Location is used when you tap near me or post an activity. Chalein does not continuously track your device location in the background.
Optional student verification uses a student-card image and university name. The image is uploaded to Firebase Storage and is intended for moderator review only.
Services
Chalein uses Firebase Auth, Firestore, Storage, Hosting, Functions, and optional Cloud Messaging; Mapbox for maps and live place search; OpenStreetMap/Nominatim only as a limited, cached final address lookup when posting; and Google services for abuse protection. These providers may process technical data such as IP address, device/browser details, request metadata, and the place text you search or submit. If you create an account, Firebase Auth processes your email address and password credentials.
Safety And Retention
Activities expire automatically based on the duration selected by the host, up to five hours. Reports, moderation records, and abuse signals may be kept longer so Chalein can investigate safety issues and repeated abuse.
Safety reports may be reviewed by authorized moderators and disclosed to relevant safety organizations or law-enforcement authorities when required to protect people or comply with law. See our Child Safety Standards.
Do not upload private documents beyond the optional student card image. Do not share sensitive personal information in public activity posts, comments, or direct messages.
Your Choices
You can continue anonymously or create an email and password account. Email accounts receive a verification message so you can confirm that the address belongs to you. You may permanently delete your account and associated data from Profile > Settings > Delete account. You may also use the account deletion page or email chalein.app.help@gmail.com.
